Substance Use Disorder Education, Policy, and Resources
In compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988; the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989: the Maryland Drug and Alcohol Abuse Control Plan; the Maryland Higher Education Commissioner's policies of June 27, 1990; and the Start Talking Maryland Act of 2017, Garrett College is dedicated in spirit and in compliance with the law to provide an alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, and other drug-free environment.
The College recognizes substance use as an illness and a major health problem. The College also recognizes substance use as a potential safety and security problem. Students and employees needing help in dealing with such problems are encouraged to use community or campus assistance programs.
